Job Summary:

The Disassemble, Clean, and Inspect (DCI) Technician is a critical role within the Flowserve Corporation, responsible for the methodical teardown and documentation of rotating equipment received at the repair shop for repair. This position requires a high degree of attention to detail and experience in various failure modes, including galling, bearing failure, excessive heat signs, and locating failed components to assist the engineering department in determining an appropriate repair path for the equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Work safely while assisting colleagues in maintaining a safe work environment and utilizing Stop Work Authority when necessary.
  • Follow pre-job briefs and checklists prior to machining parts.
  • Adhere to all routers and assembly procedures to accurately disassemble, clean, and inspect received equipment.
  • Set up and read precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and other gauges.
  • Clean each part to be used and document the condition of components.
  • Inspect components and assemblies accurately and precisely, recording the results of these inspections, including fits, clearances, TIR, and other non-destructive testing.
  • Take pictures to document condition and process.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with production planners and customers to discuss component and pump conditions.
  • Coordinate and interface with operations engineers as necessary.
  • Use precision measuring and inspection tools to measure dimensions of pump components and assemblies.
  • Complete all related documentation associated with the disassembly process.
  • Utilize torches and other heat sources properly and safely in the assembly process.
  • Communicate clearly to peers and supervisors any related job issues.
  • Able to work efficiently within fixed time windows for each manufacturing process.
  • Willingness to work with the local team on developing new tools and hardware as part of ongoing Continuous Improvement projects within the facility.
  • Exhibit behavior that encourages teamwork, decision-making, problem-solving, and continuous improvements.
  • Utilize cranes, lifting devices, and fork trucks.
  • Comply with all Flowserve policies and procedures, specifically around time and attendance, safety, and productivity.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • General mechanic skills and a roll-around toolbox.
  • Able to read and interpret prints, shop drawings, assembly checklists, and other written work instructions.
  • Basic computer aptitude to learn data entry systems and Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English and able to effectively understand work instructions, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate job status and support handovers from shift to shift.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds with a full range of hand and upper-body motion to work with tools and parts.
  • With training, be comfortable with crane operation, rigging, lifting, and moving items up to 10 tons in weight.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional, diverse, and responsive team.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must show a customer-service mindset for on-time delivery and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and prioritize work assignments with support from Team Lead and Supervisor.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime hours, including weekends and holidays, when dictated by customer emergencies and business needs.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and changing work environment.
  • Strong drive to make things happen and a strong 'can do' attitude.
  • Demonstrate a desire for personal growth and career development.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • 1+ years of general mechanical experience.
  • Certification of trade school training may be accepted in lieu of experience.
  • Knowledge of service environment activities, including DCI, machining, assembly, test, and field service for rotating equipment.
