Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Campus Planner to join our team at Chapman University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical planning expertise for a wide range of scales, from campus-wide planning to space, building, and site programming.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive campus plans that align with the University's mission and strategic goals.
- Provide expertise on space planning, programming, and pre-design for capital projects and tenant improvement projects.
- Collaborate with campus clients, stakeholders, and external consultants to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Manage project initiation, including review of alignment with university strategic planning, space programming, and project feasibility, budget, and schedule development.
- Assist in the project approvals process, in the pre-design phase of projects, and in project initiation.
- Coordinate completion of work by internal teams and third-party service providers.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in architecture, physical planning, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Four years of experience in managing planning and/or major capital projects, including facilities planning, programming, pre-design, comprehensive campus planning, and/or space planning.
- Experience in project budgeting and knowledge of sustainability, urban design, and/or land use is a plus.
- One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Certifications or licenses such as Architect License, NCARB registration, LEED AP, or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification are a plus.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of local building codes, ADA Accessibility Guidelines, zoning and entitlements, and related regulations.
- Experience and ability to develop and apply space planning guidelines and standards.
- Skills in effective use of applicable technology/systems such as AutoCAD, ARCHIBUS, ESRI ArcGIS, and/or other space data software.
- Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
