Job Summary:

Koeller Nebeker Carlson & Haluck LLP, a leading law firm in downtown San Diego, is seeking an Associate Attorney with over 3 years of legal experience in complex civil litigation, construction, and personal injury matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent case evaluations, provide recommendations, and support skills.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, counsel, and senior managing partners.
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies, recommend and propound discovery, and respond to opposing counsel.
  • Perform thorough legal research, draft memoranda, and supervise junior attorneys on research and writing tasks.
  • Draft complaints, motions, and other pleadings and documents.
  • Evaluate, draft, and argue dispositive motions.
  • Prepare for, take, and defend depositions of percipient, party, and expert witnesses.
  • Prepare for and attend court hearings and mediations.
  • Supervise junior attorney and paralegal staff in preparation for trial and arbitration.
  • Provide exceptional service to all clients.
  • Stay up-to-date with billing and reporting requirements of the Firm, clients, and insurance carriers.

Requirements:

  • Three or more years of civil litigation experience.
  • Good standing with the California State Bar; licensure in other states a plus.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Excellent oral advocacy skills and familiarity with rules of evidence.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with courts, E-Filing, Excel, Word, IManage, Outlook, Serengeti Tracker, Time Matters, and PowerPoint.
