Optometric Assistant

Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a skilled Optometric Pre-Testing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support.

• Conduct various optometric pre-testing procedures, including reviewing patient records, obtaining and documenting patient medical/ocular history, and performing preliminary testing.
• Test patients using visual field analysis to assist in determining the progression of glaucoma and other disease processes.
• Administer unit-dose medications under the direction of the delegating physician, as needed.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with patients, medical staff, and management to facilitate cooperative and coordinated interaction.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of relevant Optometry or Ophthalmology experience.
• Certification as a Certified ParaOptometric (CPO) or higher by the American Optometric Association (AOA) or International Joint Commision on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO).
• Current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from a recognized organization.
