The role of the Ophthalmologist specializing in retinal diseases involves comprehensive expertise in the management of conditions affecting the vitreous body and retina. This specialist is expected to have a thorough understanding of the patient care protocols within the Department of Veterans Affairs and associated medical facilities, including proficiency in the electronic medical records system.
Essential Qualifications:
- Must be a citizen of the United States; non-citizens may only be considered if qualified citizens are unavailable.
- Possession of a Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited medical or osteopathic institution.
- Must hold a current, unrestricted medical license to practice in any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training in a relevant medical field is mandatory.
