Product Management Engineer

The Product Management Engineer will partner with the merchandising team to manage and support private brands engineering projects at Home Depot.

Key responsibilities include benchmarking, product requirement development, and resolution of product performance concerns for assigned product categories.

The engineer will utilize Bill of Materials and internal tools to understand raw material, manufacturing, labor, logistics, business, and total costs involved in manufacturing and shipping products.

Financial knowledge and business acumen are essential to communicate findings to stakeholders and aid in decision-making.

Responsibilities include:

  • 50% Engineering project management, including benchmarking, product requirement development, and test protocol development
  • 30% Conducting financial and value-based calculations, summarizing findings for the business in presentation quality format, and communicating findings to key stakeholders
  • 10% Completing resolution of product performance concerns
  • 10% Providing general product engineering guidance and knowledge or evaluations as required to deliver short-term business goals

Travel requirements are typically less than 10% of the time, and most work is done sitting or standing/walking with occasional lifting or handling of moderate weight materials.

Required skills include mechanical or electrical engineering, extensive understanding of Bills of Materials, knowledge of merchandising financial terms, and experience working in a manufacturing and/or product development environment.

Preferred skills include business acumen, understanding of merchandising, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
