About the Position

This position is located in the U.S. Department of the Interior and is responsible for managing facility maintenance systems to ensure the effective operation of assets. The incumbent will utilize facility management software systems to track and maintain asset inventories and condition assessments, and will work with park staff to develop facility projects in the Project Management Information System (PMIS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize facility management software systems to track and maintain asset inventories and condition assessments.
  • Work with park staff to develop facility projects in the Project Management Information System (PMIS).
  • Perform and maintain asset inventories and condition assessments for the purpose of developing deferred maintenance costs.
  • Determine asset priority index, deferred maintenance costs, current replacement values, and facility condition index.
  • Establish project scope, goals, objectives, deliverables, compliance requirements, and alternatives for maintenance projects.
  • Serve as Contracting Officers Technical Representative on contracted work at PETR.
  • Lead a team of laborers and maintenance workers in performing park maintenance operations such as custodial, grounds, and building maintenance.
  • Construct and rehabilitate roadbed by grading, cleaning out drainage devices, and removing vegetation from the traveled way and shoulders.
  • Operate a variety of motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump trucks and trailers with attachments.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements.
  • You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment.
  • You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
  • As a condition of employment, you will be required to obtain and maintain a Class B Commercial Driver's License.
  • You may be required to complete training and operate a four-wheel drive vehicle.
  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
  • If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • You may be required to travel overnight away from home.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications:

  • Have at least one (1) year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing the following:
    • Utilized facility management software systems for cost effective management of assets.
    • Performed and maintained asset inventories and condition assessments for the purpose of developing deferred maintenance costs.
    • Determined asset priority index, deferred maintenance costs, current replacement values, and facility condition index.
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree.
  • 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
  • LL.B. or J.D., if related.
  • Combination of experience and education that, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement.
