Job Summary

PACS Inc is seeking a highly skilled Medication Aide to join our team. As a Medication Aide, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the medication room and medication services as directed by the Health Services Director (HSD) and in accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and the nurse practice act.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Process physician medication and treatment orders in accordance with state regulations and the nurse practice act.
  2. Administer and assist with the self-administration of routine and non-routine medications in accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and the nurse practice act.
  3. Complete simple treatments and monitor residents as directed by the HSD in accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and the nurse practice act.
  4. Maintain accurate records of medication and treatment services provided or omitted, including controlled substances, in each resident's clinical record.
  5. Coordinate with pharmacies for medication orders and refills.
  6. Report all medication errors per policy and complete notifications timely and all required forms.
  7. Report and record changes in resident condition, incidents, and accidents to HSD, physician, and family member as indicated under the direction of the HSD.
  8. Provide direct resident care while promoting the resident's dignity, independence, and personal choice, regularly observing residents' physical and mental conditions and reporting changes to health services leadership or Executive Director.
  9. Provide care services as directed by the resident's cooperative service plan.
  10. Coordinate personal care services with co-workers assisting with lifting and respond to assistance pages promptly.
  11. Greets residents, visitors, and staff courteously, and in a manner that respects dignity, confidentiality standards, and promotes individual rights.
  12. Follows and supports community fire safety and infection control practices and promptly reports any unsafe conditions or equipment to immediate supervisor.
  13. Serves meals in the dining room, assisting residents at mealtime, provides resident tray delivery, and assists with dining room and kitchen clean up and maintenance.
  14. Assists in lifting, moving, and transporting residents using proper body mechanics or assistive devices as directed by the resident's cooperative service plan.
  15. Assists with tours, move-ins, move-outs, and transfers.
  16. Performs First Aid and initiates emergency response procedures per policy and state regulations.
  17. Properly stores medications and equipment and keeps the medication room clean and orderly.
  18. Removes outdated or discontinued medications to return to the pharmacy or disposal per policy.
  19. Attends and participates in training, in-services, and staff meetings.
