GENERAL OVERVIEW
The primary objective of this role is to execute a comprehensive array of maintenance tasks for both landside and airside operations. This includes performing preventive maintenance and repairs on diverse machinery and equipment to guarantee smooth, safe, and efficient operations.
SUPERVISORY ROLE
This position does not entail any supervisory duties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the upkeep of airside and landside areas, ensuring that all grounds are properly mowed, edged, and landscaped.
- Ensure the functionality and maintenance of all irrigation and watering systems.
- Administer the safe application of herbicides and pesticides in compliance with regulatory policies.
- Maintain the structural integrity of airport buildings and ancillary facilities.
- Carry out a variety of construction and maintenance projects, including but not limited to painting, plumbing, roofing, electrical work, and mechanical repairs.
- Assist in inventory management and procurement of necessary supplies for facility operations.
- Oversee the preventive maintenance of all equipment and perform repairs as required.
- Conduct airfield inspections in accordance with federal regulations, documenting any discrepancies and determining necessary corrective actions.
- Perform maintenance on airside pavements as scheduled or needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations in all airfield and aircraft movement areas.
- Utilize airport communication systems effectively, adhering to established procedures.
- Respond to aviation emergencies in alignment with the Airport Emergency Plan, assessing situations and executing appropriate actions.
- Conduct security checks of perimeter areas, ensuring adherence to security regulations.
- Participate in employee committees and represent the organization at various professional gatherings as needed.
- Facilitate the setup and movement of furniture and equipment as required.
- Maintain punctuality and adherence to attendance policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory, along with:
- Two years of experience in Electrical/HVAC.
- One year of experience in Mechanical/Welding.
- One year of experience in Building Maintenance.
- Six months of experience in Grounds Maintenance.
- Equivalent education or certifications may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Effective communication skills for receiving instructions via radio systems.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Proficient in the safe and proper use of tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks efficiently.
- Physical capability to lift heavy objects and endure long periods of standing or walking.
- Competence in operating small tractors and landscaping equipment.
- Skilled in drywall repair and minor plumbing tasks.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Familiarity with electrical systems and the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
- Regular and punctual attendance is essential.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Must obtain an Herbicide Applicators License within one year of hire.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Utilization of various tools and equipment, including tractors, mowers, and power tools, is essential for the execution of job responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift and move heavy objects, and work in various environmental conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employees may encounter loud noise levels and work near moving mechanical parts, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
This position is classified as safety-sensitive.
