This role is pivotal in executing angiographic and specialized interventional radiology procedures focusing on abdominal and neurovascular areas. The incumbent will deliver direct patient care and may be tasked with accessing and administering medications within their professional scope and in compliance with state regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients and equipment for catheterization by ensuring proper site preparation, draping, arranging sterilized instruments, and calibrating necessary equipment.
  • Conduct specialized vascular and neuro procedures with precision.
  • Adjust technical parameters to achieve optimal diagnostic outcomes while minimizing radiation exposure to patients.
  • Assist physicians during complex vascular and neuro radiographic interventions.
  • Administer contrast media under the supervision of a physician.
  • Contribute to the department's quality control initiatives.
  • Test, monitor, and maintain equipment to ensure safe and effective operation.
  • Restock supplies as time permits.
  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule for after-hours procedures.
  • Provide technical support in the Vascular OR.
  • Serve as a mentor and trainer for new technologists and students.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven ability to perform essential functions as outlined.
  • Competence in delivering care to diverse patient populations.
  • Understanding of life span growth and development principles, with the ability to assess patient data and provide care in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

Licenses Required

  • Valid Radiologic Technologist license in the State of Utah.
  • ARRT Registration as a Radiologic Technologist R.T. (R) (ARRT).
  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system, to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

* Additional licensing requirements may be specified by the hiring department.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of six months of experience in Angiography.
  • ARRT Registration as R.T. (VI).
  • ACLS certification may be required in certain departments.
