We are seeking a skilled Industrial Painter to join our team at Midwest Railcar Repair Inc. As an Industrial Painter, you will be responsible for preparing railcars for painting and applying coatings to meet specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare railcars for painting by air-blasting with steel grit media and cleaning surfaces.
- Apply coatings to railcar interiors and exteriors using industrial paint and equipment.
- Perform minor sanding, touch-up, and stenciling of railcars.
- Clean equipment, mix paint, and remove dust contamination from railcars.
- Read and interpret documents, including work orders, operating procedures, and safety rules.
- Follow directions and operate yard vehicles safely.
- Work at heights of 14 feet or more and in confined spaces.
- Complete necessary paperwork legibly and accurately.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous industrial painting experience and/or training is helpful.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and complete a post-offer, pre-employment respirator fit test/physical.
- Ability to work independently and function in a team environment.
- Excellent comprehension and retention skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
The Industrial Painter will work in a paint shop environment, with temperatures varying throughout the seasons. Each employee is required to provide their own safety-toed boots, which must be above the ankle and composed of leather with no mesh.
The company will provide all necessary tools and equipment to complete the work.
