Position Overview

A backstage technician plays a crucial role in the behind-the-scenes operations of theaters, film sets, television productions, and live performances. This position involves the setup and management of scenery, lighting, audio, props, rigging, and special effects for various productions.

The hourly compensation for this role ranges from $16 to $18.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the assembly, disassembly, and transportation of equipment for events, conferences, and conventions; establish stage setups, lighting, audio, and special effects systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of staging areas and equipment.
  • Collaborate with event production and management teams to ensure proper setup of staging, equipment, and facilities.
  • Physically lift and relocate staging, rigging, lighting, and special effects equipment.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.
  • Required to provide personal tools such as a crescent wrench and multi-tool.
Qualifications
  • Familiarity with theater construction and rigging techniques.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Capability to interact with the public, guests, and colleagues in high-pressure situations.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends, while maintaining punctuality and a positive demeanor.
