Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Coatings Specialist to join our team at the Army National Guard Units. As a Coatings Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing and applying coating materials to various surfaces, ensuring a high-quality finish and adhering to strict safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces for coating by removing rust, paint, and loose particles, and filling in holes and dents using body fillers and hardeners.
  • Apply coatings to specified areas, ensuring a smooth and even finish, and adhering to manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols.
  • Prepare coating materials by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing various additives to achieve the desired surface appearance.
  • Monitor and adjust air pressures in paint booths, and control heat settings and drying times to achieve proper surface adhesion.
  • Complete records for paint usage and waste, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Apply Chemical Agent Reactive Coating (CARC) materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions.
  • Manage workflow and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and achieve desired results.
Requirements
  • At least 18 months of experience or training in surface preparation and coating methods and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret directions, and use tools and equipment associated with the painting trade.
  • Knowledge of coating materials, including paints, varnishes, shellacs, and epoxy resins.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a paint shop environment, with exposure to chemicals, dust, and other hazardous materials. The successful candidate must be able to work in a team environment, and adhere to strict safety and environmental regulations.
