Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients of all ages using various phlebotomy methods, including venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections.
- Provide rapid response to medical emergencies, such as traumas and codes, by working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Interact with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Accurately identify patients, label, handle, and transport specimens, and answer phones as needed.
- Assist with the training of students and new employees, and contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Phlebotomy experience is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to push a cart and walk distances is essential.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills are necessary.
- Valid phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Health Career Association (NHA), or the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT), is required for Phlebotomist II.
