We are seeking a skilled Extrusion Operator to join our team at WMC LLC.

About the Role

This is a full-time position working second shift, scheduled from 2:45pm - 11:15pm, Monday through Friday.

As an Extrusion Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and tending machines that extrude and form continuous filaments from synthetic materials. You will also be required to transfer material to and from the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to WMC's quality management system.
  • Follow the WMC production process sheet for order of production.
  • Load materials into extruder, adjust feed mechanisms to set feed rates, and keep machines full of material at all times.
  • Lift 55lb bags of material to fill hoppers.
  • Tear down and dispose of empty or damaged boxes.
  • Start metering pumps and observe machine operations to ensure the continuous flow of filaments extruded through the die and detect processing defects.
  • Activate and adjust the extruder using controls.
  • Stop machines when processes are complete or malfunctions are detected.
  • Observe machine operations, control boards, and gauges to detect malfunctions and record details.
  • Notify other workers of defects and direct them to adjust the extruder.
  • Remove excess, entangled, or completed filaments from machines and clean equipment.
  • Perform quality checks on skids to be used for the finished product.
  • Operate a forklift to move pallets throughout the production floor.
  • Verify box weight and add or remove material as needed.
  • Perform tests such as Ash, Gardner, Moisture, Durometer, Specific Gravity, Melt Flow, and Notched Izod as required.

  • Maintain a clean work area and follow all WMC Health & Safety Practices.
  • Report any injuries or unsafe work conditions.
  • Attend mandatory safety training and request additional training as needed.

$53,000 - $63,000 per year based on experience, plus benefits package, including competitive pay, PTO, team incentives, individual financial incentives, 401k, and employee appreciation activities.
