Job Description: We are seeking a qualified Behind the Wheel Instructor to join our team at Iowa Western Community College. As a member of our Continuing Education department, you will be responsible for teaching students the fundamentals of safe driving practices, including vehicle control, defensive driving techniques, and road awareness. You will also be required to evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate training records. Your ability to create an inclusive learning environment and support the social/emotional development of your students will be essential to their success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach Students the basic controls of a vehicle, including starting, stopping, turning and parking.
  • Instruct students on defensive driving techniques and how to respond to various road conditions.
  • Demonstrate and supervise compliance with traffic laws and signals.
  • Evaluate the student's driving abilities and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide constructive feedback to help students build skills and confidence.
  • Document student progress and maintain accurate training records.
