Metrology Technician Role at Avispa Technology

We are looking for a skilled Metrology Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating service activities relating to the calibration, maintenance, and repair of Calibration Standards and Instruments.

About the Opportunity:

  • This is a great opportunity to work with a leading biotechnology company.
  • The successful candidate will have 2-4 years of experience as a Field, Calibration, or Instrumentation Technician.
  • You will work closely with customers, including scientists, engineers, and production staff to pick up instruments in need of service and collect technical information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform entry-level maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairs on Calibration Standards to ensure measurement accuracy and proper traceability to international standards.
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving of instrumentation equipment and Standards in need of calibration and/or repair.
  • Review and process external vendor calibration and repair documentation per established procedure.
  • Work with external calibration vendors and procurement to create and establish purchase orders (PO's).
  • Manage blanket PO's spending and request additional funds when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Two or four years of progressive experience as a Field, Calibration, or Instrumentation Technician.
  • Completion of an Instrumentation or Electronics 2-year curriculum at a technical school, or an AA / AS Degree in a related science or engineering major, including substantial relevant on-the-job training.
  • Able to organize and complete all assigned work by the scheduled due date.
  • Knowledge of fundamental electrical, electronic, mechanical, and/or calibration principles.
  • High level skill use of personal computers; SAP experience is a plus.
  • Able to build and repair equipment.
  • Able to pay close attention to details.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • General knowledge of cGMP and GLP practices.
  • Able to perform work with minimal supervision.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
