Job Title: Loan Processor I

At TRANSPORTATION FEDERAL CREDIT UNION, we are seeking a highly skilled Loan Processor I to join our team. As a Loan Processor I, you will play a critical role in assisting members with their loan applications, processing, and disbursements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Loan Application Review: Review loan application files to verify that application data is complete and meets credit union standards, including borrower assets, liabilities, and length of employment.
  • Documentation and Verification: Contact specified companies to obtain supporting documentation, and inform the supervisor of discrepancies in loan applicant's information and documentation.
  • Loan Processing: Accurately produce loan documents, reports, and new accounts in a timely fashion, with zero errors.
  • Member Service: Provide prompt, accurate, courteous, friendly, timely, and professional service to all members and Credit Union associates.
  • Loan File Management: Prepare file for underwriting, close, organize, and complete member loan files, and return calls within goals set for response times.
  • Cross-Selling: Cross-sell credit union products and services, and maintain a working knowledge of all loan products and rates, both within the credit union and from the industry overall.
  • Loan Application Submission: Type loan application forms and submit loan application files for approval.
  • Loan Approval and Denial: Prepare and mail approval and denial letters to applicants.
  • Loan Data Recording: Record data on the status of loans, including the number of new applications and loans approved, canceled, or denied.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
  • Education: A high school education or GED.
  • Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
  • Other Skills: Good communication skills (verbal and written), proficiency in using general office equipment, and familiarity with MS Office software (Word and Excel).
Work Environment:

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and local travel, including exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather conditions, and occasional environmental hazards.
