Job Summary:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse/Scrub Technician at Johnson Regional Medical Center, you will provide direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care. You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse to ensure that patients receive high-quality care. Your responsibilities will include maintaining regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures, and standards. You will also communicate effectively with physicians and team members about changes in patient condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.

This role requires you to be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. You will also be responsible for performing general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Your ability to revise the plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness is essential.

You will also be responsible for performing waived testing (point-of-care testing) per Clinical Laboratory's and the resident care unit's policies and procedures. Your ability to interpret results of waived tests and take appropriate action on waived tests results is crucial.

This role requires you to be able to treat patients and their families with respect and dignity. You will also be responsible for identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.

You will work in a fast-paced environment and be responsible for coordinating and supervising patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will also consult other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.

This role requires you to be able to communicate effectively with team leader, co-workers, and physicians. You will also be responsible for meeting current documentation standards and policies.

You will work in a safety-sensitive position and be responsible for performing life-threatening procedures, working with hazardous or flammable materials, controlled substances, food, or medicine. A lapse of attention while working in this position could result in injury, illness, or harm to patients or others.

This role requires you to be able to operate equipment safely and correctly. You will also be responsible for performing other duties as assigned within the LPN scope of practice.

Requirements:
Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean. Completes annual education requirements. Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organization standards. Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time. Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly. Completes inservices and returns in a timely fashion. Attends annual review and department inservices, as scheduled. Attends 12 staff meetings annually, or reads and returns monthly staff meeting minutes. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
