Job Summary

RWE Clean Energy LLC is seeking a highly skilled Solar & Energy Storage Systems Technician II to join our Operations & Maintenance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our solar and energy storage systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain the availability of solar and energy storage systems, ensuring mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed as needed to meet established safety and operating targets.
  • Execute daily scheduling philosophy utilizing a prioritized list of work provided by planning, with a focus on maximizing generation and ensuring proactive work is prioritized and completed.
  • Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV and battery storage electrical equipment.
  • Ensure all assigned maintenance tasks are performed safely and in accordance with site operating procedures established for Storage/Solar PV sites.
  • Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA's, Permit to Work, and job-specific documentation required to conduct maintenance and repairs in a safe manner.
  • Proactively identify improvement opportunities to job-specific processes and procedures.
  • Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements.
  • Perform balance of plant and switchyard work as required.
  • Perform maintenance on BESS, trackers, inverters, and other PV electrical equipment as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Lead.
  • Monitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where necessary.
  • Perform current and voltage readings as necessary.
  • Document all work and generate reports as necessary.
  • Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environment.
  • Assist with BOP activities as required.
  • Use available tools to monitor energy output and respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Ensure site access, site HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed in accordance with site protocols.
  • Interface with 3rd party contractors working at our facilities.
  • Be available to respond to non-traditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in engineering or related Science from an accredited US school preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, and distribution.
  • Unrestricted driver's license in good standing.
  • Willing to relocate to within 1-hour drive of the site.
  • Must be skilled in at least one of the following: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance; substations maintenance; power plant safety protocols.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs.
  • Routine operation of a computer/tablet and other office productivity machineries.
  • Frequent oral and written communications.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Complete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe.
  • First aid/CPR/AED.
  • OSHA Certified.
