Cemetery Groundskeeper

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cemetery Maintenance Worker to join our team at Service Corporation International. As a Cemetery Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining the grounds and appearance of our cemetery and funeral home locations.

• Maintain the grounds and appearance of cemetery and funeral home locations, including mowing grass, plowing snow, watering lawns, fertilizing and trimming shrubs, and tending to flower beds.
• Operate lawn and grounds equipment, including push and power mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, and leaf blowers.
• Remove debris and trash from grounds, including turning down vases and removing wilted flowers.
• Participate in teams for openings and closings for interments, entombments, and inurnments.
• Perform disinterment and determine the location and layout of individual graves with assistance, complying with verification procedures.
• Perform minor repairs to cemetery and building systems.
• Assist in moving and installing burial vaults.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months relevant experience.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including shovels, picks, rakes, and lawn mowers.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Physically agile and dexterous.
• Ability to communicate effectively with associates, contractor personnel, and client families.
