Water Quality Specialist

The Water Quality Specialist is responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and evaluating water treatment systems, including hydronic heating and cooling, UV lighting, and pool chemical treatment systems.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Preferred: Certified Pool & Spa Operator Certification (CPO)
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Capability to follow both verbal and written directives
- Understanding of water treatment methodologies and protocols
- Minimum of two years in recreational water or HVAC water treatment systems
- Travel to various locations to service swimming pools, associated equipment, and water treatment systems.
- Calibrate and adjust water treatment control mechanisms to manage chemical distribution.
- Ensure optimal chemical balance and temperature of pool water in compliance with district standards and best practices.
- Conduct and document water quality tests, including pH levels, chlorine concentrations, and temperature readings.
- Diagnose and repair faulty components of water treatment systems.
- Inspect and support the maintenance of pool dehumidification systems.
- Address emergency situations related to pool equipment and chemical discrepancies.
- Uphold the safety and well-being of students, patrons, and staff.
- Embody the core values of trust, respect, responsibility, fairness, care, and citizenship.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Review district policies and current practices before taking action.

Includes but is not limited to hand tools, small power tools, electrical testing devices, ladders, lifts, pool cleaning equipment, and chemical testing instruments.
Working Environment
Mental Demands
Ability to concentrate and focus while handling hazardous materials. Flexibility in scheduling and maintaining emotional stability is essential.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Involves extensive walking, standing, and climbing; lifting up to 80 pounds; exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and chemicals; navigating slippery or uneven surfaces; and working near high voltage and moving machinery.
Contract Duration: 230 days
Pay Grade: AUX 7
