The Environmental Services Porter will be responsible for the removal, cleanup, and proper disposal of hazardous materials, adhering to all relevant safety regulations. This position plays a crucial role in promoting a culture of safety by maintaining strong communication with management and safety personnel.

Compensation: The Facility Maintenance Attendant will receive a competitive pay scale, with hourly wages ranging from $17.00 to $18.00.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily inspections of the facility and waste disposal processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Sort and manage trash and hazardous waste to ensure proper disposal.
  • Supervise hazardous spills using appropriate equipment and dispose of waste in line with state, federal, and company guidelines.
  • Alert supervisors to significant hazardous or environmental concerns as they arise.
  • Monitor and guide team members on the correct procedures for handling hazardous waste.
  • Utilize and instruct others on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
  • Restock and maintain supply cabinets.
  • Ensure the upkeep of exterior safety features, including eye-wash stations and technician work areas.
  • Work safely with various cleaning agents and chemicals.
  • Perform additional safety and maintenance tasks, collaborating with contracted services when required.
  • Clear debris from trenches, stalls, and other designated areas.
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently with minimal oversight.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors regarding safe hazardous waste management practices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Physical capability to push, pull, bend, twist, stoop, stretch, and reach.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods (up to 6 consecutive hours).
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over varying distances and surfaces.
  • Strong memory and attention to detail for tracking work progress and applying relevant information.
