Job Overview

We're seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at LabCorp in Portland, OR.

About the Position:

  • This role involves performing a vital component of clinical lab science in a high-volume, production-based environment.
  • The ideal candidate will work in a 3rd shift environment, Monday-Friday, from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM with rotating weekends.

Key Duties:

  1. Determine specimen acceptability for testing according to established criteria.
  2. Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions as per departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  3. Monitor and operate instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  4. Making technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
  5. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  6. Report accurate and timely test results for quality patient care.
  7. Document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  8. Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as needed.
  9. Assist with specimen processing when necessary.
  10. Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.

Required Skills:

  • Associate degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • Prior affiliation with OFNHP is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in Microbiology required.
  • Must be ASCP certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficient with computers and laboratory information systems.
  • High attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Pass a standardized color vision screen.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts based on business needs.

Estimated salary range is $50,000 - $65,000 annually, plus comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and an employee stock purchase plan.
