Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient-centered care in the neonatal and pediatric departments. As a key member of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs diagnostic tests, administers respiratory therapies, and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Neonate Resuscitate certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist certification.
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) certification.
  • Associate Degree.
