AOD Floor Operator

**Job Summary:**
The AOD Floor Operator is responsible for performing various tasks on the AOD deck to ensure efficient steel production. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Collection: Collect temperature and sample readings from both AODs and deliver acceptable samples to the lab for testing.
- Material Handling: Stock material on the deck as needed for upcoming heats and assist with AOD vessel changes when possible.
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance tasks and address any issues that may arise during the shift.
- Scrap Charge Cars: Run scrap charge cars in manual mode and ensure that all material is properly loaded into the AOD.
- Deck Maintenance: Sweep and clean the deck during downtime and ensure that trash is properly disposed of.
- Assistance: Assist crane operators with ladle handling, assist the AOD refiner and desk operator with various tasks, and provide support during the slag off operation.
- Training and Development: Participate in training sessions to learn the desk job operation and improve overall knowledge of the process.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Skills: Good communication skills, ability to take instructions, and a strong understanding of the chute box loader position.
- Physical Abilities: Mobility in the plant, strength and agility, dexterity, and ability to work in a high-heat environment.
- Work Environment: Ability to work a rotating shift, including days and nights, and maintain a clean and safe work area.
Health and Safety:
- Compliance: Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
- Reporting: Report any absence or defect in protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.
- Equipment Use: Use or wear required equipment, protective devices, or clothing, including safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and a NAS uniform.
