Logistics Manager Position Available at FullSteam

We are in search of a skilled Logistics Manager to oversee our operations at a prominent food distribution center. This role is ideal for individuals with substantial experience in logistics and supply chain management.

Compensation: $70,000 - $75,000

Role Purpose: The Logistics Manager is responsible for providing operational guidance to staff regarding the planning and execution of logistics functions. This position ensures that all operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage transportation operations at the facility, ensuring effective workflow and task execution.
  2. Implement and enforce compliance with Logistics Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  3. Train employees on policies and procedures, addressing any non-compliance issues.
  4. Oversee the processing of load quote requests, ensuring accuracy and timely responses.
  5. Train Dispatch Agents in carrier selection to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  6. Maintain proactive communication with customers regarding shipment statuses.
  7. Act as the primary contact for carriers, fostering relationships to secure favorable shipping rates.
  8. Ensure all documentation and reports are processed accurately and promptly.
  9. Negotiate terms and rates with shippers and carriers as needed.
  10. Monitor carrier performance and collaborate with the Logistics Manager to enhance processes.
  11. Exercise discretion and sound judgment in decision-making.
  12. Troubleshoot shipment-related issues as they arise.
  13. Evaluate employee performance and assist in their professional development.
  14. Promote a positive work environment and maintain high morale among staff.
  15. Participate in meetings and be available for weekend and holiday work as required.
  16. Provide support in the absence of key personnel to ensure operational continuity.
  17. Be on call for emergencies and staffing issues.
  18. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in coaching and conflict resolution.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capacity to manage stress in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related software.
  • Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) for load processing and shipment tracking.
  • Analytical skills to compile and assess data effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Experience managing a diverse workforce.

Education and Experience:

A degree in a related field or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in logistics or transportation, including customer processing and operational procedures. A minimum of 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role is required.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and to work in various positions for extended periods. Candidates must be able to navigate a warehouse environment and adapt to varying temperatures.
