Position Overview

We are in search of a Staff Accountant to enhance our Finance Team. This role will report directly to the Director of Finance and will encompass the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements in compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Analyze, reconcile, and monitor monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Compile monthly financial reporting packages.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Account for prepaid expenses and accruals, including the creation of amortization schedules.
  • Conduct various analyses and prepare schedules as requested by Corporate.
  • Analyze monthly budget versus actual variances for various departments.
  • Document procedures and workflows for assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules for both accounting and tax purposes.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining accounting files.
  • Support cash and indirect cost forecasting efforts.
  • Coordinate semi-monthly reviews and annual audits, responding to inquiries as needed.
  • Administer fuel card and leased vehicle programs.
  • Prepare and file monthly/quarterly sales and excise tax returns for relevant states.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen for security clearance requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, and reconciliations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with government compliance is preferred.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, managing multiple projects while delivering high-quality work on time.
  • Independent and adaptable problem-solver, capable of evolving with the business.
  • Knowledge of sales and use tax requirements by state, with the ability to assess and communicate their relevance to the business.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with various management levels and build relationships across the organization.
