Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Railcar Switchman to join our team at Transco Railcar Repair. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating locomotives to move railcars from a switch list.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate locomotive to move railcars from a switch list.
  • Regularly operate locomotive in a congested area, exercising caution to prevent damage to railcars or accidents to employees.
  • Perform basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills to complete tasks.
  • Operate switches and direct the flow of cars in the rail yard.
  • Experience in operating a locomotive (switch engine) is required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, reporting potential hazards.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Pass a drug screen and physical examination.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights exceeding 4 ft. off the ground with proper PPE and fall protection.
  • Close mental and visual attention is required, coordinating manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time.
