Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Bennettsville, SC. As an LPN, you will provide high-quality patient care to inmates, working closely with a Supervisory Clinical Nurse, MLP, and Physicians to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide standard patient care, established protocols, and standing orders for handling inmate complaints during sick call.
  • Manage patient flow and triage, responding to institution emergencies with Registered Nurse, Mid-level practitioner, or Physician backup.
  • Screen new arrivals, assess inmates returning from consultant visits or hospitalizations, and provide first aid and emergency medical care to inmates injured in fights and/or accidents.
  • Administer and document medications accurately according to policy/procedure and physician orders.
  • Recognize and report adverse drug reactions and side effects.
  • Provide documentation in the medical record, which is descriptive of patients' conditions and relates to the current treatment plan.
  • Respond and intervene appropriately to emergencies and submit written reports.
  • Collect patient information, including vital signs and blood pressure checks, and provide dressing changes, administering treatments and/or medications, EKGs, etc.
  • Reports significant abnormalities to the physicians.
  • Utilize resources appropriately and collaborate with and inform a Registered Nurse, MLP, Physicians of any changes in patient's behavior, health status, or any other patient care concerns or significant changes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and health care team members.
  • Perform patient care, treatments, and procedures as directed by a Registered Nurse, MLP, and Physicians with attention to accuracy, patient safety, and comfort.
Requirements
  • Applicants must have/provide CPR/BLS license.
  • Must provide diplomas and transcripts and LPN license.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
