Position Summary: The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for executing mechanical assembly tasks. This role requires proficiency in various aspects of mechanical assembly, visual inspection, and packaging processes. The technician is adept at assembling DIN rail components, including cutting, punching, product modifications, jumper assembly, cable termination, and specialty inkjet printing. Each technician is capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team, ensuring effective production at each station or cell.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cutting, sawing, and punching DIN rail and terminal housing.
  • Assembling DIN mounted terminal assemblies according to engineering specifications.
  • Executing product modifications and kits as per engineering drawings.
  • Verifying products against drawings and industry standards.
  • Packaging products for shipment.
  • Maintaining consistent takt times and workflow efficiency.
  • Actively participating in the company’s continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilizing problem-solving skills effectively.
  • Fostering positive interactions with colleagues.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Environmental, Safety, and Security Policies while executing assigned tasks, adhering to ISO and OSHA standards.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained in other areas as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Competent in basic mathematical operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and working with fractions and decimals. Proficient in both metric and imperial measurements.
  • Adaptable to rapidly changing environments.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines consistently.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and completing forms accurately.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, quality, safety, customer satisfaction, and efficiency.
  • Availability to work overtime when necessary.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

Knowledge & Experience Requirements:

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of tolerances and torque specifications.
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with measurement instruments such as tape measures, calipers, and multimeters.
  • Proficient in reading and writing in English.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and convert between metric and imperial measurements.

Physical Requirements:

In performing the essential functions of this role, the technician is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers with dexterity, reach with hands and arms, climb, bend, sit for extended periods, concentrate, balance, stoop, kneel, push, pull, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear, count, read, and follow numeric sequences. The technician must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and see clearly (prescription glasses are acceptable).
