Job Title: Substance Abuse Technician

At The Commitment House LLC, we are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Substance Abuse Technician to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing quality care and support to our clients.

Job Summary:

The Substance Abuse Technician will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of each client, while also providing a supportive and encouraging working relationship with supervisors, leaders, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide quality customer service to personnel, persons served, families, and stakeholders.
  2. Help maintain the health, safety, and welfare of personnel, persons served, and stakeholders.
  3. Ensure client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  4. Participate in night and morning meditation.
  5. Walk around the facility and complete 30-minute checks of each client.
  6. Collaborate with Program Manager and facility staff in program development.
  7. Assist in the Quality Assurance of the agency.
  8. Participate in staff meetings; monthly or as directed.
  9. Assist in the supervision of clients and respond to all requests and emergencies during duty hours.
  10. Facilitate daily groups as scheduled.
  11. Actively encourage and promote client involvement in classes/program.
  12. Assist clients in their adjustment to community living.
  13. Assist with medication administration.
  14. Evaluate/monitor group attendance of participation in collaboration with clinical team.
  15. Verbally de-escalate tense or aggressive situations to calm clients.
  16. Address and document all aggressive behaviors on the incident report form.
  17. Hold accountability.
  18. Check facility and bed areas for proper cleanliness.
  19. Monitor client visitations and observe the sign-in and sign-out process.
  20. Ensure clients are not using cleaning chemicals without supervision.
  21. Ensure the program is being cleaned and sanitized regularly.
  22. Provide simple meals on the weekend.
  23. Ensure that clients/visitors are smoking in designated smoking areas.
  24. If approved by Risk/Compliance, provide local transportation.
  25. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. High school education or General Education Development (GED) preferred; 21 years of age or older required.
  2. Criminal background check – over one year since prior conviction.
  3. Drug test.
  4. TB skin test: Must have a test or provide proof of one within the past year.
  5. Must have a valid driver's license or reliable transportation.

Working Conditions:

The physical demands of this position are light, with walking, standing, and occasional stooping. Visual acuity and manual dexterity are needed for required paperwork. Frequent talking and hearing are required when communicating with leaders, families, and other service providers.
