Job Summary

HKS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Architect to join our team and work on our Temple projects in the Salt Lake City area. As a key member of our Culture team, you will be responsible for leading consultants and technical teams to deliver high-quality project design and implementation documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead consultants and technical teams to facilitate effective execution of project design and delivery of implementation documents.
  • Schedule Management: Work with Project In-Charge/Project Manager to develop and manage production schedules, including defining and meeting deadlines.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare, review, and coordinate implementation documents prior to issue, ensuring they conform to QA/QC and HKS standards, best practices, and quality expectations.
  • Technical Coordination: Manage technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project.
  • Code Analysis: Lead development of code analysis and confirm code and zoning requirements for assigned segments of projects are met.
  • Design Group Interaction: Coordinate design group interaction both internally and externally, including leading consultant team work sessions.
  • Client and Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications, and modifications, and obtain approvals and adjust scope of services.
  • Presentation and Communication: Prepare client presentations and present design concepts and drawings.
  • Product Research: Perform product research and assist project designers with materials and systems evaluation to make proper selections.
  • Team Management: Lead team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Meeting Documentation: Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings and document as appropriate.
  • Performance Management: Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings.
  • Talent Development: Actively invest in the professional development of staff through mentoring, performance management, and career planning.
  • Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflict effectively and encourage a healthy team environment.
  • Sustainability: Promote the firm's principles of 'design excellence' through the integration of responsible and sustainable design practice with the art of design.
  • Financial Acumen: Understand fundamental accounting principles and the project accounting process.
  • Budget Management
  • Contract Management: Collaborate in and may be responsible for delivering a project on defined budget requirements.
  • Business Development: May participate in the pursuit and marketing of potential projects.
  • Client Relationship Management: Support Project In-Charge/Project Manager and may lead the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business, and assisting with proposals, budgets, and schedules.
Qualifications
  • Education: Accredited professional degree in Architecture.
  • Experience: Experience working on Temple projects preferred.
  • Registration: Architectural Registration required.
  • Years of Experience: Typically 8+ years of experience.
  • Sustainability Accreditation: Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Revit.
  • Architectural Software: Proficiency in architectural software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D modeling software preferred.
  • Graphic Design Software: Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign software preferred.
  • MS Office Suite: Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred.
  • Sustainability Knowledge: Strong knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
  • Architectural Building Systems: Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, accessibility guidelines, and QA/QC process.
  • Building Codes: Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and incorporate into implementation documents.
  • Presentation Skills: Strong presentation skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
