Geotechnical Associate

Barry Isett and Associates, Inc is an employee-owned multi-discipline engineering/consulting firm headquartered in Allentown, PA, with additional offices throughout eastern and central PA.

We are seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer to join our team in either our Allentown, Mechanicsburg, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton or Scranton offices.

• Independently perform field sampling, characterize subsurface conditions, and complete geotechnical analysis to support geotechnical investigations.
• Provide third-party oversight and testing during foundation and earthwork construction activities;
• Prepare field reports and logs summarizing work performed;
• Complete safety training required by Isett, clients, and jobsites;
• Prepare and effectively implement health and safety plans (HASPs);
• Obtain and maintain state and federal clearances, if required by project;
• Meet deadlines mutually established between project manager and clients;
• Prepare proposals for geotechnical engineering services; and
• Assist with mentoring and training of other associates.

• 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience;
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Geology required; Masters degree with Geotechnical specialty or desire to pursue is preferred.
• EIT or GIT Certification required ; PE or PG License preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff, co-workers, management and clients;
• Strong verbal communication skills, technical writing ability, and attention to detail;
• Comfortable working outside in diverse weather conditions;
• Ability to travel to project sites is required along with a valid driver's license in good standing;
• Ability to work flexible schedule.
• Ability to obtain state and federal clearances, if required by project.
