Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Engineer to join our team at Dorsett Controls. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for the creation, direction, and management of engineering processes and tool sets, including program libraries utilized in water and wastewater process automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Process Management: Plan, organize, and direct the engineering work, ensuring standards compliance and quality outcomes.
  • Technical Leadership: Indirectly lead the engineering processes and execution methods, providing guidance and support to other engineers and staff.
  • SCADA Growth Expansion: Support the integrated SCADA growth expansion efforts through engineering leadership, training, and support to other engineers and staff.
  • Critical Technical Roadblocks: Identify critical technical roadblocks and risks, providing resources to navigate through situations.
  • Team Coaching and Mentoring: Coach and mentor other members of the engineering team.
  • Engineering Process Implementation: Directly manage the engineering process and the implementation of objectives and overall activities to facilitate standardization of design, execution strategy/methods, and support approaches.
  • Project Resource Quantification: Assist with quantifying project resources and write specialized project proposals.
  • Communication Network Design: Design and implement communication network standards for cellular and RF for SCADA RTUs.
  • Template Project Development: Develop and maintain template projects for water and wastewater RTUs.
  • PLC Programming: Develop PLC programs for control and data collection.
  • HMI Application Development: Develop HMI applications.
  • Control System Circuit Design: Design control system circuits.
  • Hardware Component Specification: Specify hardware components as needed.
  • Documentation Creation: Create process documentation to comply with internal documentation requirements.
  • Training Curriculum Development: Regularly review and contribute to the training curriculum and process for newly hired Automation Engineers in areas of PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
  • Experience: Five or more years of experience in engineering, development, or related roles in the SCADA field with water and wastewater treatment.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead technical teams on large and complex projects.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational Skills: High level of organizational and time management skills, excellent attention to detail.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Allen-Bradley and Modicon PLC programming, HMI software, and Ignition.
  • SCADA Software Knowledge: SCADA software knowledge a plus.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License: Valid driver's license required.
  • Travel: May require occasional or extended travel out-of-town based on project need.

Work Environment:

The work environment is quiet, and the employee is required to sit regularly, talk, hear, stand, walk, and lift up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
