Position Overview
Per Diem Registered Nurse for Outpatient Chemotherapy Infusion Services
Summary: This role is dedicated to delivering intravenous therapy to stable adult patients within a hospital-based outpatient infusion facility.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Complies with established Nursing Standards of Practice, encompassing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Operates in accordance with unit-specific protocols. Administers medications and IV solutions per hospital policies and procedures, consulting relevant resources as necessary. Ensures adherence to chemotherapy administration guidelines as outlined by the hospital.
2. Evaluates the educational needs of patients and their families, devising and delivering suitable instructional materials. Assesses and documents the effectiveness of the education provided.
3. Engages in unit-based initiatives and hospital committees, participates in continuing education programs, maintains an updated educational record, and contributes to professional organizations.
4. Facilitates patient care and delegates tasks to team members to foster a therapeutic environment. Assumes the role of charge RN, demonstrating independent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, along with strong organizational and prioritization skills. Aids in the orientation and training of nursing staff.
5. Performs additional duties as assigned.
6. Meets all compliance obligations associated with the position.
Additional Information:
Required: Valid RN license in New York. BSN is preferred. Experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Oncology, and IV Therapy is advantageous. Oncology Chemotherapy and Biological Therapy Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Basic Life Support Certification is mandatory.
Minimum Experience: 0 to 6 months.
Desired: Proficient IV insertion skills. Familiarity with chemotherapeutic agents and advanced clinical knowledge of central venous catheter devices. Understanding of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process and ICD-9 coding. Excellent communication abilities. Capability to work autonomously within a close-knit team under the guidance of the Medical Director.

Standard Hours: 0.01
Work Schedule: Day shifts, 8 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, no weekends.

Compensation: $65.00 per hour
