Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coatings Inspector to join our team at Atlas Technical Consultants. As a Coatings Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting and evaluating the quality and durability of coatings on various surfaces, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspection and Testing: Conduct comprehensive inspections of surface preparation and coating applications on structures, equipment, and components using visual observation and testing equipment to verify that coatings are compliant with specified requirements, including thickness, adhesion, hardness, appearance, porosity, and coverage, as per industry standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC), project specifications, established codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and any non-conformance issues. Prepare and submit thorough reports outlining inspection findings, quality control metrics, and corrective actions taken.
  • Coordination and Supervision: Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to address and resolve any issues related to coating quality and safety. Guide field personnel, providing technical support and training as necessary.
  • Compliance and Safety: Enforce compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards, ensuring a safe working environment on the project site. Monitor and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols by all team members.
Requirements
  • Certifications: Must possess a valid AMPP Certified Coating Inspectors (NACE Level 2) or equivalent certification (e.g., SSPC).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of field coating quality control (QC) experience.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of coating materials, application methods, inspection techniques, industry standards, codes, and regulations. Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, such as dry film thickness gauges, adhesion testers, and environmental monitoring devices.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and effectively communicate findings to various stakeholders.
