Controller Job Description

Legends is a premium experiences company with a global presence, and we are seeking a highly skilled Controller to join our team. As a Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing our accounting team and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Optimize cash flow management by forecasting cash requirements, monitoring cash balances, and implementing effective cash management strategies.
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information and assist the SVP in all financial reporting, including preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for all general ledger accounts.
  • Support the SVP in the development and implementation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Prepare the monthly and annual financial statements and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and operations, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Manage and mentor the accounting staff, including performance review, staff development, and training.
  • Prepare and process weekly payroll, including oversight and management of employee time.
  • Act as liaison between Corporate HR and Company, including management of recruiting process for new personnel and involvement in onboarding process.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 5-7 years of hands-on Controller experience or similar.
  • Experience with month-end/year-end closing process.
  • Proficient in accounting software and databases; expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
