Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to join our esteemed Paint and Final Assembly division. This role is pivotal in driving our vision forward, fostering international success and innovation in the areas influenced by Drr.

Location: Southfield, MI

Role Summary: The Electrical Project Engineer for conveyor systems will oversee the development of engineered electrical packages for conveyor projects. This includes transforming designs into comprehensive installation bid packages, managing the bidding process, and supervising installations to ensure final acceptance by clients. The role demands a commitment to delivering projects on time and within budget, while managing scope compliance, schedules, and changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Drr project execution procedures.
  • Develop detailed electrical installation bid packages, including scope of work and specifications.
  • Collaborate with purchasing for bid evaluations and supplier selections.
  • Coordinate with process and robotics teams.
  • Work alongside electrical and mechanical engineers to establish conveyor process descriptions.
  • Ensure proper placement of conveyor drives and maintenance access in 3D models.
  • Design conveyor safety layouts in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Prepare and assess installation work schedules and contractor invoices.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress for master tracking schedules.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with bid documents and changes.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings.
  • Prepare progress updates for clients as necessary.
  • Travel for client and contractor meetings, as well as site installations.
  • Work during shutdowns and weekends as required to meet client deadlines.
  • Occasionally travel internationally for technical meetings and installations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with automotive conveyor systems in paint, body, or final assembly.
  • Extensive experience with conveyor electrical controls and PLC programming.
  • Proficient in designing control panels and adhering to sizing specifications.
  • Experience supervising large-scale conveyor installations.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code and NFPA regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with SAP is advantageous.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and technical writing communication skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

Physical Requirements: The role may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, and using hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may need to lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision.
