Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Psychiatric Social Health Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have six months of satisfactory experience assisting patients with daily living and therapeutic activities and performing other related functions in a hospital or a health care setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Observe patients' physical and psychosocial behavior, reporting observations to Charge Nurse/Head Nurse.
  • Provide care to assigned patients while reinforcing good health practice and ensuring patient privacy.
  • Assist in monitoring patients for pain screening and report to charge nurse any complaints and responses to prescribed treatment.
  • Monitor patients on constant and close observation according to established protocol.
  • Document pertinent information regarding patients' behavior and physical condition as per established guidelines.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by performing assigned procedures such as taking vital signs, weights, and assisting in the examination process.
  • Assist patients in activities of daily living, distribute meals to patients, assist in feeding as needed, observe food and fluid intake and output, and document as needed.
  • Participate in providing activities geared towards improving quality of life, assist in recreational, motivational, and socialization activities, co-lead community meetings, AOL, MICA, Social, and Health groups.
  • Assist in controlling aggressive patients using restrictive means as a last resort.
  • Collect pertinent subjective and objective information, check patients' property upon admission, document same, and report findings to Charge Nurse/Head Nurse.
  • Assist in transporting patients to and from designated areas within the facility in a safe and dignified manner.
  • Carry out established infection control protocols.
  • Maintain competence by attending staff development programs.
  • Conform to policies governing dress code, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Assist in ensuring a safe and secure environment free of hazards to reduce the risk of injury to all customers.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff utilizing effective telephone techniques and demonstrating courteous manner at all times.
  • Explain and instruct patients/families concerning the therapeutic regimen.
  • Attend unit meetings/conferences as assigned.
  • Participate in planning and implementing orientation program for new patients.
  • Participate in community programs such as health fairs, as directed.

Requirements:

  • Six months of satisfactory experience assisting patients with daily living and therapeutic activities and performing other related functions in a hospital or a health care setting.
  • Holds or obtains a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) within sixty calendar days of appointment to the title.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 per annum
