Job Summary

The Town of Brookline Department of Public Works is seeking a skilled professional to perform manual labor and preventive maintenance work for the Water & Sewer Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the excavation and backfilling of utility trenches
  • Maintain facilities and perform maintenance tasks
  • Perform general maintenance and cleaning of water-related storage facilities, reservoirs, and associated grounds
  • Cut grass, rake leaves, and shovel snow
  • Maintain hydrant valves and water main valves
  • Respond to emergencies relating to water and sewer problems
  • Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of water mains, service pipes, hydrants, sewer, and drain connections

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance, safety practices, and work zone safety
  • Ability to operate light equipment and assist other personnel on projects
  • Equipment operation and driving skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience performing water and sewer construction projects and using light equipment and trucks
  • Valid MA Driver's License, Class D
