Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is in search of a Traffic Engineer for our Alabama office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct various types of traffic analyses including traffic impact assessments, intersection safety evaluations, interchange studies, and support corridor planning documentation.
  • Provide operational analysis for intersections and corridors.
  • Assist in the development of operational enhancements for intersections.
  • Design traffic signals and signing/pavement marking layouts.
  • Utilize Synchro software to create and implement signal timing strategies.
  • Engage in project site inspections alongside other team members as required.
  • Support transportation planning studies as necessary.
  • Oversee traffic counting, speed studies, access permit applications, and high-crash monitoring initiatives.
  • Review and prepare traffic studies to identify suitable treatments and traffic control measures to address safety and congestion challenges.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines such as surveying, roadway design, and environmental engineering to enhance technical knowledge and ensure successful project execution.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 2-3 years of experience in transportation or traffic engineering is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Synchro and Microsoft Office is essential. Familiarity with HCS, VISSIM, ArcGIS, MicroStation, and TransCAD is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Basic understanding of MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards.
