SUMMARY
The Facility Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing routine cleaning and upkeep tasks to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for clients, visitors, and personnel.

The role involves creating a clean, organized, and secure atmosphere by executing a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties across the premises.

While the majority of tasks are conducted indoors, responsibilities also extend outdoors, including sweeping pathways and collecting litter.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following:

General Functions:

  • Maintain floors in a pristine condition through sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and waxing as necessary.
  • Empty and sanitize waste receptacles and manage recycling where applicable.
  • Clean, disinfect, and restock restroom and breakroom facilities.
  • Service and maintain custodial equipment as required.
  • Perform minor repairs on furniture and basic equipment.
  • Ensure windows are cleaned at least bi-weekly.
  • Safeguard all cleaning supplies and tools, reporting weekly usage to the supervisor.
  • Identify and report any safety, sanitation, or fire hazards to the relevant department.
  • Manage the locking/unlocking of windows, doors, and gates; adjust lighting as necessary.
  • Keep outdoor areas tidy and organized, including litter collection and emptying external trash bins.
  • Foster a positive work atmosphere by engaging with clients, staff, and visitors.
  • Conduct general cleaning and maintenance, as well as setup and cleanup for special events.
  • Restock custodial supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and hand sanitizers.
  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect assigned areas, including furniture, telephones, doors, fixtures, walls, windows, and vents.

Requirements

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
The Facility Maintenance Specialist must possess a High School diploma and have some training in various maintenance practices. Familiarity with computers is advantageous.

Must hold a valid Florida driver's license and maintain a clean driving record as per the insurance criteria.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods and adhere to strict safety protocols when handling equipment. Personal protective gear such as steel-toed boots and goggles is mandatory. The role also necessitates the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and involves walking, sitting, bending, stretching, and stooping for various tasks.
