Job Summary

Valhalla Post Acute is seeking a highly skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team. As a COTA, you will play a vital role in helping our residents achieve their maximum potential and independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist, ensuring a high level of care and attention to detail.
  • Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes, adhering to OT Board and governmental requirements.
  • Assist the nursing department with training of Restorative Aides, promoting a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Communicate effectively with the supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
  • Participate in in-services training programs for other staff, enhancing knowledge and skills.
  • Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, recertification documentation, and treatment changes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Instruct patient families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training, preparing them for discharge from therapy services.
  • Participate in discharge planning, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area, promoting a safe and healthy environment.
  • Report any problems with department equipment, ensuring it is maintained in good working order.
  • Relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with patients/residents, families, staff, and professional colleagues.
