Job Overview

Position: Electrical Test Technician

Key Responsibilities:

The Electrical Test Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and diagnosing moderately complex electrical systems and their associated components. This role requires proficiency in operating various testing instruments and a foundational understanding of electrical systems, with minimal supervision.

Core Duties:

  • Conducts power testing on protective relay panels, switchgear configurations, and verifies communication and HMI components on relay panels. Testing extends to panel boards, automatic transfer switches, and other power distribution elements.
  • Adheres to the testing schedule aligned with project timelines and production demands, under the guidance of the Electrical Engineering Manager.
  • Analyzes project specifications and implements testing protocols to meet project standards.
  • Evaluates test plans for all projects against schematic diagrams.
  • Maintains a comprehensive test folder for each project, including relevant test reports, drawings, and images.
  • Regularly reviews and updates the list of testing equipment.
  • Develops and maintains testing procedures, including the creation of testing forms.
  • Facilitates problem-solving initiatives to assess quality failures and drive improvements in testing efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma with at least 4 years of similar work experience.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and various industry standards.
  • Strong background in switchgear testing methodologies.
  • Solid theoretical understanding of electrical power systems, coupled with a strong aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Ability to produce detailed reports using computer software and accurately manage project documentation.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, reliability, and the ability to oversee projects with technical acumen and business management skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, and capable of conducting online research for standards and products.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
