Role Overview
The Senior Piping Stress Analysis Engineer is responsible for conducting comprehensive stress evaluations, ensuring the feasibility of designs, and providing insightful recommendations while developing alternative solutions that are subject to review by senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate datasheets, specifications, and technical proposals for existing technologies and applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and performance criteria.
- Support and review the work of junior engineers, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Act as a senior technical liaison among clients, engineering teams, and subcontractors to identify root causes of issues and formulate effective solutions.
- Conduct thorough investigations into project requirements, focusing on safety, environmental compliance, and the technical assessment of piping stress and material specifications.
- Contribute to the establishment of project timelines, labor estimates, and overall project deliverables.
- Define engineering schedules and develop cost estimates for projects.
- Perform stress analysis, create piping specifications, and ensure adherence to all relevant codes and engineering protocols.
- Collaborate with other departments regarding equipment design challenges and inquiries.
- Occasionally travel to field locations to address product-related issues or gather application data, while interfacing with equipment suppliers.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, correspondence, procedures, specifications, and technical calculations, ensuring clarity and professionalism in all documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- Specialized knowledge in piping engineering and a broad understanding of related disciplines.
- Proficient in performing stress analysis on intricate piping systems.
- Ability to serve as a specialist in stress analysis.
- Strong awareness of economic factors influencing project areas, including costs and profit margins.
- Proven capability to apply advanced engineering principles and mathematical concepts to enhance design and development processes.
- Demonstrated ability to independently create functional and cost-effective designs that meet complex specifications.
- Skilled in managing multiple priorities and conflicting demands.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with database systems relevant to engineering functions.
- Exemplary organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to deliver accurate work within established timelines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with a command of grammar and vocabulary.
- Proficient in persuasion, negotiation, and motivation techniques.
- Capable of producing clear, effective, and comprehensive written communications and reports.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team setting and readily accept new responsibilities.
- Experience in mentoring and project planning, with the ability to guide and manage others.
