Position Overview:
LAC Federal is seeking a meticulous and experienced Greek Language Catalog Specialist to enhance our cataloging efforts.

In this role, you will be tasked with the cataloging of a diverse collection of Greek language books for a significant federal library.

Your responsibilities will include creating and refining cataloging records within an Integrated Library System (ILS), ensuring precision and thoroughness.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to an innovative environment.


Work Hours:
Flexible - on-site with potential for remote work

Job Status:
Long-term Contract - options for full-time and part-time schedules available.

Full-time roles are eligible for benefits.

Note:
Compensation is based on a piece rate.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Original, Enhanced Minimum Level, and Copy Cataloging records for Greek language materials across various subjects.
- Efficiently catalog Greek titles by providing essential metadata in MARC21 compliant bibliographic records.
- Classify monograph materials within the collection.
- Create and maintain records in an ILS cataloging system, ensuring accuracy and completeness in accordance with NACO standards.
- Provide insights regarding new subject headings and classification numbers.
- Stay informed about advancements in cataloging standards and best practices.

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or a related field from an ALA-accredited institution.
- Advanced proficiency in the Greek language.
- Minimum of 3 years of cataloging experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in transliteration.
- Strong understanding of cataloging standards, including RDA, AACR2, LCSH, LCC, MARC21, BIBCO, and NACO.
- Familiarity with library management systems such as Voyager (preferred), ILS, OCLC Connexion, Classification Web, Cataloger's Desktop, and the LC Authorities list.
- Practical experience with metadata and taxonomies for catalog collections.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
