Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to join our team at Flatiron Construction. As an Operations Director, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects, teams, and pursuits across our division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Oversight: Provide technical and leadership expertise to project bids and projects during construction, working closely with estimating, bid review committees, and project construction teams.
  • Project Planning: Regularly review proposed project plans to ensure compliance with contract cost estimates, production goals, and quality adherence.
  • Team Management: Coordinate with HR to ensure all projects have accurate personnel assigned and we are ahead wherever possible when it comes to recruiting efforts for upcoming project needs.
  • Financial Management: Review weekly and monthly project status and financial reports, ensuring accuracy, identifying gaps, and implementing trainings and corrective action plans where required.
  • Client Relations: Oversee and/or assist with Owner and regulatory relations, presentations, and change order requests, as needed.
  • Subcontractor Management: Participate in selection and contract execution with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Project Cost Control: Oversee and/or audit project cost controls, budgets, invoicing, estimates, and project forecasting and provide input to upper management related to district project operations and status.
Requirements
  • Experience: 15+ years of experience in heavy civil construction required.
  • Management Experience: 12+ years of experience managing construction teams required.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree a plus.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to set clear expectations with direct reports and appropriate stakeholders. Able to hold personnel and third-party participants accountable to expectations and deliverables.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills to support internal talent growth and mentorship at multiple projects types and locations.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proficient multi-tasking and prioritization skills to provide technical guidance to scheduling, production, construction issues, and Owner relationship situations.
  • Claims Management: Proven knowledge and ability to manage claims process and negotiate with Owner regarding project issues.
  • Team Leadership: Proven skill and ability to lead multiple teams from different functions towards a common goal.
  • Conflict Management: Strong conflict management skills.
