About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at the Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute. As a Registered Nurse II, you will be responsible for providing advanced nursing care for patients with psychiatric disorders in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, as well as nursing standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions.
  • Implement the use of Seclusion/Restraints, including knowledge of physical/emotional risk factors of patients served at the facility.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Experience working as a Registered Nurse.
  • License or eligibility for license to practice as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing.
  • Computer skills, including electronic health records.
  • A valid driver's license is required and must remain valid throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with individuals with mental illness, substance misuse disorders, and/or involvement in the judicial system.
  • Veterans and people with National Service experience.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English.
