Key Responsibilities
- Provide metallurgical and quality-related support to King Steel's operations and sales teams.
- Oversee all laboratory activities and material certification processes within the facility.
- Supervise laboratory staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Ensure compliance with ISO and AIAG CQI-9 standards within the plant.
- Collaborate with all personnel to meet customer specifications and requirements.
- Monitor, design, and enhance plant processes for continuous improvement.
- Conduct metallurgical research related to internal operations and finished products.
- Evaluate customer inquiries regarding manufacturing capabilities.
- Engage in the resolution of customer complaints.
- Assist in managing raw material and external processing suppliers.
- Contribute to plant 5S initiatives to maintain organization and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical, Chemical, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a Metallurgist, Metallurgical Engineer, Materials Engineer, or similar role.
- Hands-on experience with metallurgical testing and related equipment, including tensile and hardness testing, as well as metallography.
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with steel heat treatment processes and process design.
- Understanding of steel manufacturing and associated processes.
- Experience in interpreting ASTM and other industry standards.
- Knowledge of automotive APQP and PPAP processes.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
